FAQs

  • Reformer Pilates originated in the 1920s at a Pilates studio in New York and was created by Joseph Pilates.

The reformer machine incorporates springs, pulleys, bars and straps to enable a wide range of exercises.

These movements are designed to precisely target and strengthen specific muscle groups while improving stability.

Joseph Pilates, the creator of the method, described it as a system that “evenly conditions the body, corrects poor posture, boosts physical energy, sharpens the mind, and uplifts the spirit.”

  • Reformer Pilates is all about a strong mind-body connection. It focuses on isolating and strengthening individual muscle groups- from the core and abdominals to the arms, glutes, legs and back.

Each class varies daily, challenging the body with different loads to build strength and stability.

This method is perfect for full-body conditioning while also offering mental benefits. By incorporating spring resistance and light hand weights, it delivers a comprehensive workout.

Expect to feel a satisfying muscle burn- what we like to call “pleasurable pain”- as your body is pushed in ways you`ve likely never felt before.

  • Reformer Pilates is gentle enough to be practiced daily, yet still provides a challenging and engaging workout. With hundreds of exercise variations, it targets the body from multiple angles, keeping sessions dynamic and effective.

Even if you are only able to attend once a week, you´ll still benefit- especially in terms of strengthening weaker areas and improving balance, flexibility and overall strength.

If you´re new to exercise or recovering from injury, it´s best to speak with your instructor about how often you should attend.

  • Reformer Pilates is for everyone- regardless of age or experience. It´s a low-impact, full-body workout that promotes well-being and is adaptable for all fitness levels, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes.

One of its greatest advantages is how easily the resistance and intensity can be adjusted to fit your individual needs. We ensure each participant trains safely and effectively, offering hands-on guidance when needed to help correct posture an d technique. Your workout is tailored to your body- within your limits, and with minimal risk of injury.

  • Bring yourself, a positive attitude, water, non-slip grip socks (a must) and comfortable workout clothing that allows you to move freely.

  • Absolutely! You don´t need to be flexible to start. In fact, reformer Pilates will help improve your flexibility over time. As you build strength and mobility, you´ll also reduce stiffness and tension in your body, while developing long, lean muscles.

With consistent practice, you´ll feel stronger, more empowered, and noticeably more flexible.

  • Unfortunately, we do not specialise in prenatal reformer Pilates yet, but we are working on it.

  • Studio3 Pilates Club does not own a private parking but we are located on a main street that has public parking, you will also find nearby plenty of parking offerings like UiT or other areas.

Arrival

It is preferable to arrive 10 minutes early to your class. If your instructor is finishing another class when you arrive, kindly wait in the lounge area or locker room until they are ready to greet you.

Late arrival

Classes start right on time, but we are humans and we do understand things outside our control can happen, therefore we will tolerate 5 minutes late arrival.

For show-ups later than 5 minutes, the 24-hour cancellation policy will apply and we won´t be able to accomodate you.

What should I bring and wear?

Wear comfortable workout clothes, keeping in mind that some exercises may involve open leg positions. If you are wearing rugby or fotball shorts we recommend adding compression shorts underneath for coverage.

For hygiene and safety, all classes must be done in socks- preferably non-slip grip socks.
